THE CELLAR BOYS :

Wingie Mannone (tpt); Frank Teschemacher (clt); Bud Freeman (ten); Frank Melrose (pno); Ray Biondi (gtr and accordian); George Wettling (dms). 1930 :

Barrel-House Stomp Wailing Blues

JAN GARBER AND HIS ORCHESTRA :

March, 1930 :

Puttin’on the Ritz (149912)

When a Woman Loves a Man (149913)

(This coupling is listed solely as a point of interest, it representing the last recorded appearance of Tesch. First side is poor, second is infinitely worse, but Garber believes that Teschemacher was present).

Frank Teschemacher (bom 1906, died 1932) probably made his first record with the Austin High Gang under the name of Husk O’Hare’s Footwarmers on Vocalion 15646—Milenberg Joys/My Daddy Rocks Me, but no personnel information regarding this record is forthcoming, other than Tesch’s probable presence. It should be mentioned here that Tesch definitely did not appear on Charles Pierce’s Jazz Ale Blues and Sister Kate, nor on any of the so-called Original Wolverines'

(Dear Old Southland, etc.), Maurie Bercov being responsible in each case.

Especial acknowledgments to Dick Fiege and George Avakian for assistance.

ERIC S. TONKS.

In the compilation of this discography I am indebted to R. C. A. Victor, who have given me much information from their files ; and to Brian Rust for dates of the Columbia discs made over here.

TAILPIECE, (concluded from page 31). From the January 1945 issue of that excellent

Eublication, The Record Changer (“ For >isposition ” section), I quote, without continent, the following :

(This review makes no pretensions to being up-to-date ; since it was written quite a few more records of interest have become available. This, however, does not result from any deliberate intention on the part of Mr. Aldam, but rather from delays in publication.—Ed.).
